Software IE complice degli hacker cinesi contro Google

Da Corrieredellasera.it, ecco la risposta di Microsoft riguardo al caso scatenatosi la scorsa settimana a seguito del tentativo di hacker cinesi di penetrare la rete informatica di google sfruttando un baco conosciuto in IE6 e ben più complesso da usare nelle successive versioni IE7 e IE8:

"Dopo la bufera, la multinazionale di Redmond prova a riportare la calma. Dal governo tedesco è arrivato l'allarme sulla pericolosità dell'uso del browser di casa Microsoft, Internet Explorer, nelle varie realease. Oggi da Segrate, sede italiana dell'azienda, arriva invece un comunicato per tranquillizare gli animi dei milioni di utenti: “Gli attacchi dei giorni scorsi hanno coinvolto solo un esiguo numero di società a livello internazionale, utilizzando un exploit", un codice maligno, come spiega il capo della sicurezza italiano, Feliciano Intini, "che impatta i clienti che utilizzavano Internet Explorer 6". Gli utenti che hanno installato Internet Explorer 8, con i dovuti aggiornamenti, dovrebbero dunque essere al sicuro. E questi, in Italia, sono già almeno 15 milioni, perché tanti sono stati i download dell'ultima versione del browser, come invece ci spiega Luca Colombo, capo marketing della divisone Consumer & Online (qui trovate maggiore informazioni dall'azienda).

Se dunque, come conferma Microsoft, IE8 è il browser in circolazione con minori vulnerabilità, come si spiega invece la minaccia agitata ieri dalla Germania? Forse, una spiegazione che non ufficialmente convince più o meno tutti, perché l'ultima versione del browser è maggiormente utilizzata dalla cosiddetta utenza domestica, libera di aggiornare a piacimento il software che gira sulle macchine di casa. Libertà limitata invece nell'utenza business, uffici e società, dove probabilmente girano la maggior parte delle versioni 6 del browser di Microsoft - ancora in circolazione, secondo gli ultimi dati di Market Share, nel quasi 21% del totale dei browser, percentuale che lo pone ancora come il più utilizzato al pari di IE8 -, utenza che è anche più interessante per chi, cracker o pirati che siano, cerca di aprire falle nei sistemi informatici per rubare dati a vario titolo."

Aggiungo che, a quanto pare, Google abbia aperto un'indagine interna per accertare se gli hacker abbiamo ricevuto un aiuto interno all'azienda. Altre aziende implicate nella vicenda, per motivi ancora non chiari, sono Adobe, McAfee e Symantec.

Aggiornamento del 22.01.2010: oggi Microsoft ha rilasciato la patch che ripara il problema su IE6, IE7 .. copre anche la falla per IE8, ma quest'ultimo era per gran parte già al riparo da un possibile attacco. Si consiglia vivamente di passare a IE8, per evitare eventuali problemi.
